Virasb Vahidi, Senior Executive Advisor, Green Africa Airways
Green Africa Airways has announced the appointment of Mr. Virasb Vahidi, former Chief Commercial Officer of American Airlines, as Senior Executive Advisor to the Company. In this advisory capacity, he will be working closely with Mr. Babawande Afolabi, founder & CEO of Green Africa Airways as the new carrier finalizes its launch plans.
 
As Chief Commercial Officer at American Airlines, Mr. Vahidi was a principal architect in the largest and most successful restructuring in the aviation industry. He had responsibilities for fleet planning, network optimization, revenue management, customer insights and loyalty, sales, marketing, and communications. He also led the modernization of American Airlines’ fleet with the industry’s largest aircraft order that in a few years will create the most modern, fuel-efficient fleet in the business.
 
Mr. Vahidi’s diverse business experiences further include serving as CEO of Otter Media where he led the online media firm’s operations and strategy. He also played senior roles in finance, corporate strategy, planning and investor relations at AT&T. He played a key role in crafting and executing AT&T/SBC merger and integration. Following his tenure at AT&T, he served as Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Board of Directors at Phorm, a London-based technology company.

Mr. Vahidi earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mechanics and Engineering Sciences from the University of California – San Diego and an MBA from Paris ENPC School of International Management.
