Rosemary Akpo Joins EXP As MD
After years of dedicated services at Suntory Beverage & Food Nigeria Limited, owners of the beverage brands, Lucozade and Ribena, as Marketing Director, Africa and Middle East, Rosemary Akpo has left the company to join EXP, an experiential agency, as Managing Director.
With her new role, she is expected to oversee the day to today activities of the agency, and make the agency achieve its vision “To be the No.1 360 Experiential Agency in Nigeria” and also help brands develop measurable brand campaigns and deliver memorable brand experiences.
Prior to her joining the experiential agency, at Suntory, she was responsible for developing the business and the market strategy for the Lucozade Ribena Suntory (LRS) brands in the Africa and Middle East markets. Also, she led the execution of marketing strategies across Africa and Middle East to ensure achievement of market share, volume and value targets.
In addition, she was in charge of planning and providing leadership to the Marketing department by ensuring that the appropriate structures, systems, competencies and values are developed in order to meet and exceed the goals of the Marketing plan. She was also in charge of providing leadership to the Africa and Middle East Marketing team to optimize individuals’ experience and careers of team members.
Before her elevation, she was the Africa Marketing Director, Ribena. However, recall that in 2016, GSK Consumer Nigeria Plc sold its drinks, bottling and distribution business to Japanese global beverage company, Suntory Beverage & Food. Akpo was with GSK before joining Suntory.
Meanwhile, before that, she was with The Coca-Cola Company as Strategic Marketing Manager – Colas where she led and managed the Coca-Cola Trade Mark Portfolio (brands and people) to ensure achievement of business targets and appropriate successions including coaching and mentoring. Also, she was responsible for the development of brand marketing strategies & plans and supervised the execution of the plans, evaluating and implementing corrective actions to ensure achievement of long-term volume and profit targets among others.
Akpo holds Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physics from University of Calabar, bagged Post Graduate Diploma in Information Resources Management from Federal University of Technology, Owerri Imo and holds Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Administration and Management, General from Lagos Business School.
