David Okeme Now COO of RemitaNet
Africa’s pioneering software giants, Systemspecs have elevated David Okeme to the position of Chief Operating Officer of its flagship, RemitaNet.
Okeme had risen through the ranks to his current position having joined the company early in 2017 as its Chief Marketing Officer. Less than a year later, he was made the Chief Commercial Officer for the company.
In that position, he was responsible for overseeing the company’s marketing and sustainability initiatives. In his current position, he will be responsible for these as well as Growth and P&L, and responsible for the Applications, Data and Vertical Markets business.
He is a multiple award-winning professional whose career of more than two decades has spanned several countries and cultures, leading many successful initiatives in both traditional and digital marketing.
Until recently, he was the Marketing Director of Unilever Nigeria, where he had a distinguished career covering the entire four lanes of Marketing Brand Building, Brand Development, Customer Development and Customer Marketing. In 2008, he was deployed to Unilever Arabia, based in Dubai, where he managed Unilever Oral Care business in the Africa, Middle East and Turkey region. After his stint in Dubai, he was appointed to the Board of Unilever Nigeria PLC as Marketing Director, a position he held for six years.
David is an alumnus of the University of Jos, London Business School, Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania, and also the Chief Executives Programme (CEP 21) of the Lagos Business School. He was the former President of the Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN), a fellow of the National Institute of Marketing, member of Advertisers Practitioners Association of Nigeria (APCON), and Executive Board member of the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA).
David is passionate about brighter life for African Consumers and one of his pet projects is listed in the Guinness Book of records. His awards and recognitions include Brand of the Year (Advertisers Association of Nigeria), Best Practice Execution of Digital Campaign, National Institute of Marketing Life Time Achievement Award, Unilever ASIA/AMET Award for World Class Brand Activation, but to name a few.
