Interswitch Boss, Others Canvass Leveraging Technology For Growth At Revamped Innovention
Key stakeholders led by Mitchell Elegbe, the Chief Executive Officer of Interswitch- a foremost integrated payment solution and transaction company have made a case on leveraging technology to leapfrog Africa’s development at the annual Innovention Series held yesterday at the Civic Centre, Lagos.
Speaking on the theme, ‘Leveraging Technology for Growth, the Interswitch boss who was the keynote speaker for the event, urged participants to find opportunities in challenges, using technology to enhance development, stressing that what many people see as challenges within the African continent are actually opportunities for development. He explained that the Interswitch brand noticed such challenges in the areas of payment when it entered the market in 2002. It was its focus on providing solutions that has made it a foremost leader in that space today.
This year’s Innovention, an initiative of the Verdant Zeal Marketing Communications Group, witnessed a reinvigoration with the introduction of new sessions and exhibitions for all participants that cuts across social and corporate Nigeria. Now held in two days, it featured a masterclass that held a day before and the conference which featured 16 other speakers who spoke on four different topics hinged on the theme.
The first panel session centered around ‘Creating Valued Experience Beyond Borders,’ and had Rogers Boniface, Managing Director, JCB Whosale; Ayodele Subair, Chairman, LIRS and Ayoola Oduntan , Group MD, Amo Farms as panelists. They were joined by Toun Okewale-Sonaiya who moderate the session.
The second Session which focused on ‘the Power of Data in Creating Opportunities’ had Jide Ipaye, Founder, Keex; David Okeme, COO, Remita.net and Temie Giwa, Founder, Lifebank as panelists. The session was moderated by Ope Kehinde, Marketing Director, Bolt. The third session centered on ‘Exploring New Energy Potentials.’ Moderated by the Ray Echebiri, it featured Dayo Okusami, Partner, Templars and Ajibola Akindele as panelists. This session was followed by the last one which centered on the creative arts. Featuring Dr. Helen Paul, Comedienne; Dr. Sid, Recording Artist/Producer and Kelechi Olawoyin, Chairman of board, Streetproject Foundation, it was moderated by On-Air-Personality, Destiny Amaka.
Speaking on the new inclusions to the series convener of the event and Executive Vice Chairman of Verdant Zeal Group, Dr Tunji Olugbodi said, “after staging 8 editions of the program, we are determined to take the series to a new height through the introduction of exhibition booths for various organizations that intend to showcase their products to participants. Also, we decided to introduce four more new sessions’ with various panelists’ addressing contemporary developmental themes while the main sessions’ will be headlined by a key-note speaker”
According to him, “we have adopted the global theme of “Unstoppable Africa”, for the next three years before giving Africa’s rising profile and potential in the world. Also, we are focusing our conversations around specific pillars for the yearly program, these are- Development accelerators; Youth Empowerment; Technology for Growth; Entrepreneurship and Leadership. These pillars would guide our conversations and reflect in the agenda that we set for Africa”, he added.
