Bel-Molokwu Launches ‘A Trilogy Of Advertising’

Advertising icon and former chairman of Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, APCON, Dr. Josef Bel-Molokwu has launched a book on advertising entitled, ‘A Trilogy of Advertising’ at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Media Centre in Lagos yesterday.

The launch which was chaired by former Chairman of APCON and Chairman of Reckitt Benckiser Nigeria, Chief Olu Falomo had in attendance prominent and eminent practitioners in the Nigerian advertising space including the Chairman Troyka Holdings, Biodun Shobanjo; Current APCON Chairman and CEO, Alhaji Garba Bello Kankarofi; CEO of SO&U, Udeme Ufot; Chairman of STB McCann, Sir Steve Omojafor; Group Chief Operating Officer, Insight Redefini, Ken Onyali Ikpe; MD/CEO and Ladybird, Bunmi Oke, among others.

A review by the Founder of MediaReach, Mr. George Thorpe, revealed that the 472-page book is an advertising compendium with 33 sections subdivided into three books that look at critical areas in advertising: they are The Profession, The Practice and The Philosophy.

The book pays attention to the practice situation in Nigeria, dwelling deservedly on APCON and its revitalizing role in the growth of advertising in Nigeria, in the process, highlighting moments of advertising as well as some beacons of this growth.

Also speaking at the occasion, APCON’s present Registrar, Alhaji Garba Bello Kankarofi said the book is a reflection of Bel-Molokwu’s inspiring journey in the world of advertising and communication.

“This book documents Bel-Molokwu’s years of study, research and work experience in the advertising industry. It is indeed a treatise in adverting, written from the vantage position of a scholar who has been involved in the highest level in the various facet of the advertising industry,” he concluded.

Josef Bel-Molokwu is currently Senior Fellow at the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, and Chairman/Lead Consultant of SefPatri Services (Inc.) and The Biographic and Reference Book Centre, BioRef (Inc.).

He is also Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the ESUT Business School Master’s Degree Programmes as well as Master’s Degree Course Developer/Writer/Editor/Project Moderator for the National Open University of Nigeria.

He was the Registrar/Chief Executive (Director General) of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) form 1994 to 2005. He is a Fellow of Intercontinental Communication, Management Consultancy and Advertising; Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism. He was on the Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Media Merit Award for 2004 to 2016.
