Organisers of African Cristal Awards have advised Nigerian creative agencies to increase their participation in Africa’s continental creative showcase and awards scheduled to hold 3rd and 4th of May, 2018 in Marrakesh, Morocco.

The Vice President and Head of Agencies Business, African Cristal, Julien Morales made this known recently when he hosted the country’s creative directors and other heads of agencies at Radisson Blu Hotel in Lagos.

He urged the country’s creative industry to participate more in this year’s edition, judging that Sectoral heads of Advertising Agencies in Africa like Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) and others will be given a special opportunity to tell the world the state of advertising in their respective countries.

“African Cristals Festival is to talk about the best of creativity in different countries in Africa in terms of communication and media. For instance, the President of the Advertising Association in Mauritius and Kenya will be coming to Marrakesh to present the best of creativities in Mauritius, Kenya, and others. We will love Nigeria to also partake, and the most logical thing is that AAAN President or representative will do that in Marrakesh,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Lekan Fadolapo, Executive Director, AAAN and representative of AAAN President, Kayode Oluwasona at the event applauded the organisers of the festival for the showcase of creativity in the continent and therefore appealed to members of the advertising community in the country to support the initiative.

Similarly, Joshua Ajayi, Publisher of Brand Communicator magazine, the media partner and agent of African Cristal in Nigeria disclosed that preparations are in top gear to make this year’s event memorable, as he urged  Media Specialist agencies to also participate in the Festival.

“We would love to see participation from media specialist agencies asides from creative because at Global Cristal you have media specialists actually winning awards based on the strategies they put behind a whole lot of things they do. So, we would love to see participation from agencies in the marketing communications agency beyond just creative agencies.”

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Steve Babaeko, CEO/ Chief Creative Officer, X3M Ideas is one of the jury of the award and the only Nigerian on the list. Members of the jury will judge works in categories which include Film, Outdoor, Radio, Digital, Promo & Direct, Film Craft, Press, Integrated, Mobile and Media. In addition, African Culture category and Special Awards will also be given.

The two-day event with the theme “Boldness’” will bring together stakeholders and decision-makers to share knowledge of the African market while participating in the conferences and debates animated by experts of the industry. This year will focus on the cultural stakes and their implications for brands and help in grasping the creative and multi-cultural future in line with the African emerging market.

With 680 campaigns from 31 countries registered last year, the African Cristal Festival promises to be bigger and better.

Some of the participants that grace the event in Lagos include Lanre Adisa, MD/Chief Creative Officer, Noah’s Ark; Abolaji Alasua, Creative Director, Noah’s Ark; Dan Oshodin, MD, Posterscope; Mowunmi Owodunni, MD, STB McCann; Tunde Sule, Casers among others.
