National Advertising Conference Officially Begins Today

The maiden edition of the National Advertising Conference organised by the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, APCON, officially commences today.

The conference which is slated to hold at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton hotel in the nation’s capital, Abuja, is themed, “Advertising in the Post Digital Age: the Profession, the Business and Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development”. Arrival of delegates from around the country and pre conference registration for the conference however began yesterday, followed by cocktail later in the evening at the Hawthorn Suites in Abuja.

Today will however witness the official opening of the conference as the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osibajo is expected to declare the event open and the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed is expected to give an address.

Today’s event which will be steered by veteran TV Host, Soni Irabor, will witness the presentation of the keynote paper by the Group Chief Executive Officer of Prima Garnet, Lolu Akinwunmi.

This will be followed by a plenary session made up of speakers such as Sir Steve Omojafor; Insight Redefini boss, Dr. Ken Onyeali Ikpe; X3M Ideas’ CCO/CEO, Steve Babaeko; Noah’s Ark’s CCO/CEO, Lanre Adisa;  MTN’s General Manager, Consumer Marketing, Kola Oyeyemi; Kenny Ogungbe; Ladybird’s MD, Mrs. Bunmi Oke and Dapo Adelegan. The plenary will be moderated by the MD of Corporate Shephard, Idorenyen Enang.

The conference will continue tomorrow with a breakfast chat with an advertising icon, Mr. Biodun Shobanjo who is the Chairman of Troyka Group. The breakfast chat will be moderated by foremost broadcaster, Kingsley Osadolor and the topic will be ‘Reflecting on the development of the advertising profession in Nigeria.’

This will be followed by position paper presentations by all sectorial groups in APCON. Afterwards, the second plenary session of the conference with the theme, ‘Communication and the challenges of socio-economic transformation in Nigeria,’ will hold. The event will be moderated by TBWA boss, Kelechi Nwosu and the plenary comprises AAAN President, Ikechi Odigbo; Insight Redefini boss, Dr. Ken Onyeali Ike; Mrs Bunmi Adeniba; Verdant Zeal Group’s GMD, Tunji Olugbodi among others.
