The Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) is set to host the 47th Annual General Meeting today via a Zoom business meeting platform.

The AGM will also see the emergence of new executive members who will pilot the affairs of the association. Some of the candidates are: Steve Babaeko, CEO/CCO, X3M Ideas vying for the position of the President of the association; Jenkins Alumona, MD/CEO, Strategic Outcomes Limited running as Vice President; Dr. Tunji Olugbodi, Executive Vice President of Verdant Zeal is also contesting as ex-officio among others.

Recall last year’s AGM was held in Lagos at the Orchid Hotel in Lekki, Lagos on Friday, September 20, 2019 with the theme, ‘The War Within: Solutions for Survival.” According to the association, the theme of the AGM was aimed at providing new directions and finding solutions to overcome myriad of challenges confronting the creative industry.

However, earlier before that it was scheduled to hold Asaba, the Delta state capital on Thursday 11 July to Saturday, 13 July, 2019 but was postponed because of a disaster that was averted when members of the association, escaped a near plane crash on their way to Asaba, for the 46th AGM/Congress.

The flight, operated by Air Peace Airlines, had on board over 40 members of the Association, including industry leaders and other stakeholders when it took off from Lagos on Thursday. Attempt to land the plane at the Asaba Airport proved abortive due to the weather and other logistic issues, compelling a return to Lagos. The airline subsequently cancelled flight operations to Asaba on Thursday.

AAAN was founded in 1973 as a sectoral body within the Nigerian marketing communications landscape and has become a force to be reckoned with both locally and internationally. Formerly known as Association of Advertising Practitioners of Nigeria (AAPN), the Association formally changed its name from Association of Advertising Practitioners of Nigeria (AAPN) to Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) on May 1st, 2004 during its 31st AGM/Congress. AAAN is the umbrella body that coordinates and promotes the interest of Advertising Agencies in Nigeria.
