27 Agencies, 68 Brands, Jostle For Glory At LAIF As 31 Jurors Adjudge 500 Entries
A total of 27 creative agencies are battle ready for glory come this weekend, Saturday 12th December, as they have submitted over 500 entries of works done on 68 brands across different categories for adjudication at the prestigious Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival (LAIF) organized by the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN).
This year’s edition which is the first virtual version and the 15th edition of the event is themed ‘Grind & Shine.’
In a related development, organisers of the LAIF Awards have released a rich line-up of jurors both from the Nigerian and international markets. The jury also comprises a healthy mix of professionals from the client and agency divide of the industry who will adjudge the creative entries submitted by the various competing agencies.
Some of the jurors-numbering a total of 31- include Gavin Whitfield, Founder, ECD, Intrepid Fox, Editi Effiong, Founder Anakle and Anakle Labs; Adebola Williams, Category Lead, Gum and Candy, Mondelez, West Africa; Chris Ogunlowo, Creative Director at SO&U Limited and Tolulope Ajayi, Film Director (Saga City).
Others are Ndukwe Onuoha, Creative Director, 7even Interactive; Bamidele Ariyo, Managing Director, Adeptus Advertising Limited; Adedayo Adefila, Head, Digotal, PZ; Mehdi El Alj, Founder/ECD La Force, France; Bada Akintunde-Johnson, Country Manager, Nigeria, ViacomCBS Networks Africa; Sheila Ojei, Communications Specialist, Jobberman Nigeria, among others.
Recall in the ‘Tori tori’ edition which held last year, X3M Ideas emerged the biggest winner for the year, winning three gold plaques, two silver and five bronze plaques. The agency was also awarded the overall Grand Prix award for its animated TV commercial, “DStv Step Up and Boost.”
Other big winners at that edition include Noah’s Ark which had 21 plaques, comprising five gold, six silver and 10 bronze plaques. They are joined by DDB Lagos with three gold, four silver and seven bronze plaques; SO&U with three gold, five silver and three bronze plaques; ISOBAR with two gold, three silver and three bronze plaques and BBDO with two gold, one silver and five bronze plaques.
7even Interactive won one gold, six silver and four bronze plaques; Ogilvy Nigeria got one gold, four silver and one bronze plaques; Leo Burnett claimed one gold, three silver and four bronze plaques; TBWA/CONCEPT garnered one gold, one silver and six bronze plaques; Up In The Sky and Yellow Black went home with one gold, one silver and one bronze respectively, while IMS got one gold and one bronze.
Also awarded were Adeptus with one silver, Onewildcard with three bronze, Culture, Fuel Communications and Image and Time got two silver plaques respectively; while Bluebird, Explicit and FCB-DP Partnership won one bronze each.
