Nigeria’s Sinmisola Hughes-Obisesan, a creative advertising Amazon has been named in the jury line-up of global experts selected to define the global benchmark for creativity this June at the prestigious Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity for this year.

Sinmisola who is the Group Creative Director for Insight Redefini will join in judging works from across the globe that will be awarded and celebrated at the Cannes from 20-24 June 2022.

Taking her LinkedIn page to make the announcement, she wrote, “I’m honoured to be appointed as a Cannes Lions juror. Cannes Lions has been championing creative excellence since 1954. I’ll be joining my creative peers to define the global benchmark for creativity this year, and award the world-class work that will make history and drive progress through creativity.”

With her vast knowledge across an array of sectors and over 15 years of experience on a plethora of global and local brands, she has led teams across Insight Redefini’s agencies to deliver award-winning works in Nigeria and across other international markets for brands such as Pepsi, Heineken, Nivea, Amstel Malta, Cadbury, P&G, Nestlé, Tecno Mobile, AXA Mansard, FCMB, Leadway Assurance, and others. Some of her achievements include breaking steel barriers and leading agency teams to achieve several feats such as being the first Nigerian agency to win highly coveted international awards such as Epica, WARC, and in 2019, the highest Publicis Africa Groupe network award, the Black Giraffe.

A regular judge on international and local award shows and advertising festivals, Sinmisola Hughes-Obisesan is one of the most admired and decorated Creative Directors in Nigeria. Among other recognitions, she has won the Creative Director of the Year Award, three consecutive times at the Women in Marketing Communications Conference and Awards, WIMCA.

The 2022 line-up consists of 290 jury members from across the world, representing the global industry’s leading talent from a diverse range of disciplines. First-time brands to join the juries include Ford, Frito-Lay, Peloton, Riot Games, Kansas City Chiefs, Salesforce and WeTransfer, with representation from other top global brands including AB InBev, Adobe, Apple, Disney, Doconomy, GSK, Mars Wrigley, Mastercard, Pepsico, Red Bull, The New York Times and Unilever.

Platforms and entertainment companies represented are Amazon, Google, Google Zoo, Pinterest, Snap, Spotify, TikTok, Netflix, and Meta.

Among the many global networks represented are: Accenture Song, BETC, DDB, Dentsu, FCB, Hakuhodo, Omnicom, Publicis Worldwide, Rethink, Serviceplan, and VMLY&R.  Specialist agencies include: Coffee & TV, Just Global, Inc., Merkle B2B, Pickle Music, Proto, Stein, SYZYGY, and Translation.
