Otome Oyo Joins BURN As Global Marketing Director

A consummate marketing professional, Otome Oyo has been appointed Global Marketing Director at BURN, an integrated modern cookstove company.

In his new role, he will be building and handling all marketing and Corporate communications functions of the company. 

 Prior to his appointment at BURN, he was the General Manager of EXP Agency Africa after he was elevated from the position of Client Service and Strategy Director in the same agency.

Noteworthy, he joined EXP after he left the services of food and beverage giants, Suntory Beverage & Food Africa, where he was responsible for the growth of the agency while he worked to increase its client base. 

Oyo whose specialties are marketing strategy development and implementation, marketing asset development and production, and content-based digital marketing, has had experience working in the telecoms, oil & gas, packaging as well as food & beverages industries across Africa. Specifically, he has worked with the following organisations: TetraPak, Nestlé, and the Coca Cola company, developing brand and marketing strategies for both internal and external consumers.

From Airtel Nigeria as Assistant Safety Coordinator from 2002 to 2003, Oyo later moved to Nestle S.A as Brand Manager-Nestle Milo from 2003 to 2006. Meanwhile, from 2007 to 2008, he served as Corporate Development and Strategy Manager at Sahara Group.

Remarkably, in 2009, he joined TetraPak as the company’s Category Manager while in 2010, he joined The Coca-Cola Company. At Coca-Cola, he started as Brand Manager-Still Beverages, before he was elevated to Senior Brand Manager-Still Beverages (Lagos, Nigeria) and in 2013, he was promoted to Business Unit Senior Brand Manager Coca-Cola Trademark (Nairobi, Kenya).

Thereafter, he joined Diageo (Guinness Nigeria PLC) in 2015 as Head of Customer Marketing –Spirits before becoming Marketing Manager, Malts & APNADS.

In 2017, he joined Suntory Beverage & Food Africa, Middle East & Caribbean as Central Marketing Manager, Lucozade. He held the position till July 2018 before he was elevated to the position of Head of Brands and Brand Development. In that capacity, he was in charge of all brand development across Africa, the Middle East, and the Caribbean region, including communication and assets development, lifecycle management, and brand introduction for all markets within the AMC region. He also supported local marketing teams in the development of Suntory brands in their markets.

He is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Alphabet Media Academy, a Teaching Faculty at the Joseph Business School Lagos, and a Board Member of Orpheus Communications (Owners of City 105.1FM). He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious University of Ibadan, as well as an MBA in Marketing, Business Strategy, and Innovation from the Imperial College, London.
