ARCON To Hold Leadership Forum August 23
The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, ARCON, is set to hold a leadership forum. The forum is coming on the heels of the recently signed ARCON law by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The forum themed “Responsibilities of leadership in compliance with advertising law in Nigeria,” will hold at Sheba Centre, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Maryland, Lagos, on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
According to the organisers of the forum, the gathering will attract people from the political class as well as advertising agencies, media, and other interested members of the public.
Communications expert and politician, Kamardeen Akinola Odunsi, will chair the forum while Mr. Festus Okoye, the Commissioner for Information and Voter Education of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), will deliver the keynote speech.
Other panelists at the forum include, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, Barr. Charles Odenigbo, Mrs. Bunmi Oke, Mrs. Omowunmi Owodunni, Dr. Chibuike Ogwumike, and Mr. Olusegun Agbaje.
Noteworthy, the new Act repeals the Advertising Practitioners (Registration, etc.) Act, Cap. A7, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and enacts the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) Act, 2022 which establishes a Council for advertising, advertisements, and marketing communications as the apex regulatory authority for the Nigerian advertising industry.
