World Cleanup Day: Lafarge, Geocycle Sentisise, Donate Waste Bin To Ketu Market
Lafarge Africa Plc and its waste management arm, Geocycle Nigeria partnered with several other organisations to create awareness and advocate for a cleaner environment.
This was done in commemoration of World Cleanup Day 2022, over the weekend. World Cleanup Day unites millions of volunteers, governments, and organisations in 191 countries to tackle the global waste problem and build up a new and sustainable world.
Joining other organisations to mark this year’s event, Lafarge and Geocycle took its advocacy to Ketu International Fruit Market, Lagos.
At the social intervention advocacy, people were taught the value of waste as a resource, simplified circular economy, and demonstrated various ways to re-purpose the different types of waste.
To sustain the awareness and encourage good practices, a large sized waste bin for pet bottles was donated to the market.
The company reaffirmed its sustainability agenda that transcends individual efforts into partnerships with other organisations and companies to ensure progress for people and the planet and for a greener sustainable environment.
“At Lafarge, our commitment to sustainability is unwavering. We drive a circular economy across everything we do to keep materials in use for as long as possible, giving them a second life – and a third and a fourth – and using only what is needed to preserve nature. Improving waste collection is fundamental to advancing the circular economy – and to reducing marine litter,” Head of Geocycle, Lafarge Africa, Daniel Adedokun said.
