Yet again, one of Africa’s foremost Digital Out-Of-Home (DOOH) powerhouses, Alpha and Jam has pushed the frontiers of innovation in the digital out-of-home space with the launch of Africa’s moving digital billboard truck.

Though truck LEDs are not new in this part of the world, the twist however with the moving digital billboard named ‘The Peacok.’ The concept of the billboard according to the multi-award-winning  DOOH agency, is that one can have an almost 12m by 3m standard digital screen move around on a truck as a three-sided display and the innovative ability for it to park at a strategic location and open up like a peacock it entire backside to form an impressive digital screen. This makes it the first of its kind in Africa.

According to the agency, its impact is unbelievable because the digital truck/digital screen pops open at an unexpected high impact location that delivers a must-notice, cant-ignore effect.

According to the agency, the digital-led truck moves daily from the mainland to the island from Airport to Ajah through all the major traffic points in lagos from, MBA ROAD, 3rd Mainland Bridge, Lekki Epe Expressway, Admirality Way, Osborne, Ikorodu Road, Falomo, Awolowo Ikoyi, Broadstreet, Adetokunbo Ademola And Adeola Odeku three times daily. The truck parks at strategic locations at 3rd Mainland Bridge bus stop and Bayo kuku Osborne junction daily.

In total the truck is expected to move 230km daily and parks for 4hours to make it the most impactful digital billboard asset in Africa.

According to the Growth Director, Sub-Saharan Africa, Alpha and Jam, Samuel Ajiboye, the effect of the truck is that it can effectively deliver and reach more than ten times the audience of a standard stationary digital billboard which makes it even more impactful.

“The most interesting of all is that it brings the advertising close to the audience in places they least expect which makes it even more compelling. The Digital open and close billboard truck in our experience will be an advertising asset any brand should ensure to take full advantage of,” he said.

In a related development, Alpha & Jam has launched new digital screen inventories in Jabi lake mall, Nigeria’s largest and busiest mall by number. The Ultra high definition twin screens are strategically located inside the mall to address shoppers moving across the large mall.

Each screen measures 17.5sqm in area 7m width by 2.5m height each with one located at the Shoprite entrance of the mall directly above Shoprite and Ventor furniture and the other digital screen located at the Silverbird section of the mall directly above Games.

According to Ajiboye, “these interactive 4k digital display smart screens deliver on audience measurement data for brands when need telling, number of shoppers who have seen their adverts, shopper demography, average dwell time etc.,” he said.

The launch of the screens follow Alpha and Jam’s appointment as one of the advertising concessionaires for Jabi lake mall after a very rigorous advertising concession pitch. Ajiboye opined that Alpha And Jam’s success in the bid was as a result of the company’s continuous forward-thinking and innovative direction to the overall growth of digital advertising in Africa.
