Ab InBev’s Trophy Makes History With Cannes Lions 2023 Shortlist


Trophy Stout, one of the flagship brands of Anheuser-Busch InBev Nigeria, has achieved a remarkable milestone by etching its name in the history books as the first indigenous Nigerian brand to be shortlisted for an award at the prestigious Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.

The brand makes it into the history books with its “Reclaim Your DNA” campaign created by Dentsu Creative Africa, which itself enters the annals of history for its remarkable execution. The campaign’s primary objective is to seek reparation for the stolen artefacts looted by British colonial troops during the invasion of the ancient Benin Kingdom’s wealthy capital in 1897.

The recognition of Trophy Stout’s campaign on the shortlist of the 2023 Cannes Lions Festival in France represents a ground-breaking achievement. The brand now stands on the precipice of making history as the first indigenous Nigerian brand to secure a coveted medal at the renowned Cannes Lions, often dubbed the “World Cup of advertising.” Nigerian brands have long yearned for this esteemed accolade, which has remained elusive over the years.
