Just In: Tolulope Medebem Emerges First Female President Of EXMAN
In a groundbreaking achievement for women in the field of experiential marketing, Tolulope Medebem, the Chief Executive Officer of Aster Marketing, has been elected as the new President of the Experiential Marketers Association of Nigeria (EXMAN) at the association’s tenth Annual General Meeting held in Lagos.
This appointment which makes her the first female President in the association’s history, cementing her status as one of Nigeria’s foremost experiential marketing professionals, comes after her tenure as the first female Vice-President of the association.
With close to two decades of experience in marketing communications, Tolulope has played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of experiential marketing, event management, brand management, and marketing in Nigeria. Her expertise and skills have contributed to the success of numerous high-profile campaigns on behalf of prominent clients.
Tolulope is the owner and lead of Aster Integrated Marketing Limited (AIML), a renowned marketing communications and experiential marketing agency. In her role, she is responsible for developing tailored experiential marketing solutions for both private and public sector clients. Some of the notable clients she has worked with include the British Council, Nokia (HMD Global), Sunking (Greenlight Projects), and FlyFix (Erel Worldwide), among many others.
Throughout her career, Tolulope has held key positions in top-notch experiential and through-the-line agencies such as Brand Footprint Communication, FKG2 (Troyka Group), and the Miss Commonwealth Organization. She has also worked on the client side, serving as the Consumer Development and Marketing Manager at Dansa Foods Limited, a subsidiary of the Dangote Group.
Her extensive portfolio includes collaborations with major brands like MTN, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Multichoice, M-Net & Supersports, V-Mobile and Zain (now Airtel), Proctor & Gamble (P&G), British American Tobacco (BAT), First Inland Bank, Intercontinental Bank, Dansa Foods, and numerous others. Additionally, she gained valuable experience in broadcasting during the early stages of her career, working with esteemed organizations such as AIT, M-Net New Directions, UNFPA, and Klink Studios.
Tolulope’s educational background includes a first degree in Dramatic Arts from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Consultants and an associate of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON). She is also a full member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIMN) and various other sectoral and industry associations.
Tolulope’s dedication to continuous development and learning is evident in her participation in numerous training programs. She completed the China European International Business School (CEIBS) / WELA Programme in 2014 and currently serves as a Council member of CEIBS Nigeria Alumni Body. Furthermore, she is the Chairperson of CEIBS Alumni, Nigeria Chapter Editorial Board.
Her exceptional achievements have been recognized through prestigious awards and accolades. In 2016, she was selected as one of 500 women to pioneer the EDC/Cherie Blair Foundation Road to Women’s Business Growth program. She was also named the WIMCA’s Female Experiential Marketing Professional of the Year in both 2018 and 2021. In 2020, she was honored as one of the Top 50 Women in Marketing and Communications and received the Africa Woman’s Leaders award from the World Women Leadership Congress. Additionally, Marketing Edge named her the Outstanding Experiential Personality of the Year in 2020.
Not only does Tolulope excel in her professional endeavors, but she also dedicates her time and expertise to social and volunteer initiatives. She volunteers with the ACT Foundation, utilizing her marketing communications expertise, and is involved with The Slum2School project, where she serves in the Graphics and Design Unit. She is the creator and presenter of BantzwithTee, a mental wellness podcast, and the founder and mentor of Nurture to Nature, a youth enablement movement.
When she is not immersed in her professional and volunteer work, Tolulope enjoys traveling, reading, and listening to music. She is happily married and a proud mother of three beautiful daughters.
