It was indeed the largest gathering of female professionals in brands and marketing communications as class, glamour and glitz mingled with the atmosphere of recognition and celebration of outstanding females who have performed exceptionally well in the industry at the just concluded 2023 Women in Marketing and Communications Conference/Awards (WIMCA).

The award ceremony held on November 18 at Landmark Event Centre, Lagos, celebrated the industry’s foremost leaders such as Omobolanle Victor-Laniyan, Rosemary Egabor-Afolahan, Bolanle Osotule and others in the top 50 most influential women in the marketing communications category as well as others in the individual’s awards category.

Bolanle Osotule won the Most Outstanding Marketing Professional of the year in the IT and Telecoms Brand category as well as the top 50 most influential females in marketing communications.

Rosemary Egabor-Afolahan won the Most Outstanding Marketing Communications Professional of the year, broadcast media category as well as one of the top 50 most influential females in marketing communications.

Omobolanle Victor-Laniyan was named one of the top 50 most influential female marketers of the year as well as the most outstanding sustainability professional of the year.

Top industry leaders such as Bodam Taiwo, Head of Portfolio, Bond & Connect, Western Africa Pernod Ricard; Tolulope A. Medebem, CEO Aster Integrated Marketing Limited; Solabomi Antwi, Chief Operating Officer, Divergent Marketing Services, Agbons Igiewe, Chief Operating Officer, Ziza Digital; Brenda Nwagu, Principal Communications Consultant/CEO QVT Media; Nana Milagrosa, Founder and Chief Experience Curator CXC, MPXM; Foluke Femi Sanda, Senior Brand Manager, GB Foods; Kemi Longe, Head of Marketing, PZ Cussons; Mabel Adeteye, Head, Brand & Marketing Communications, Wema Bank, Tosin Adefeko, Managing Director, AT3 Resources; Nene Bejide, Principal Consultant, Balanche Aigle Communications; Adedoyin Jaiyesimi, Co-founder/ Communications Advisor, The Comms Avenue among others were celebrated among the 50 most influential women in marketing communications in Nigeria.

For the individual awards category, Ifunanya Obiakor won Most Outstanding Marketing Professional of the year, Dairy segment while Oge Maduagu won Most Outstanding Media Manager of the year, FMCG.

Chiaka Eluchie was recognised as the most outstanding marketing professional of the year in the Food category while Adesoji Omoigui received the most outstanding marketing professional of the year in the beverage category awards, Omoefe Ohworakpo most outstanding digital marketing professional of the year.

Morolake Emokpaire smiled home with the Most Outstanding Marketing Professional of the year FMCG while Temitope Ayeni went home with the Most Outstanding Creative Advertising Professional of the year.

Earlier in his welcome address, the convener of WIMCA and Publisher of Brand Communicator Mr. Joshua Ajayi noted that WIMCA remains a platform that creates opportunities for greater exposure for women, elevates their personalities, deepens their performances, and consolidates on the impact they have created to position themselves for premium performance.

On the celebration of the top 50 female marketers, Mr. Ajayi said that the glamour which generated great excitement among industry stakeholders was the recognition of the top 50 women marketers in Nigeria started last year and it turned out to be one of the most glamorous and prestigious recognition projects ever hosted exclusively for women in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The two-day event featured panel sessions with seasoned and distinguished industry leaders like Nana Milagrosa, Mabel Adeteye. Abiola Salami. Victor Afolabi and Tolulope Medebem. Solape Akinpelu and Kayode Oladapo were the Keynote speakers at the event.

The event also had a masterclass, a two-day exhibition and product tasting by different brands and other initiatives that made WIMCA 2023 very robust, engaging, exciting, and memorable for attendees.
