FRSC Appoints Newspaper Columnist Jonas Agwu As New Spokesperson


The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has appointed Assistant Corps Marshal Jonas Agwu as its new spokesperson and Corps Public Education Officer.

Agu who is also the face behind the popular radio programme, ‘Oga Driver’ and writes a column in Leadership and Thisday newspaper every Saturday, is a PR professional with years of practice under his belt.

In a statement signed by the deputy spokesperson, Charles Edem, it noted that the corps marshal approved the redeployment of the former assistant corps marshal in charge of Command Administration and Strategies (CAS), ACM Agwu to take over the administration of the corps public education office (spokesperson) hitherto held by deputy corps marshal Bisi Kazeem.

FRSC also redeployed its former spokesperson, DCM Kazeem to the Training Department at the national headquarters, Abuja. Meanwhile, the deputy corps marshal Shehu Alkali Zaki, the erstwhile deputy corps marshal in charge of the Training Department is to henceforth oversee the affairs of the Department of Operations, the statement revealed.

The statement added that the corps marshal expressed confidence in the capacity and experiences of the newly redeployed senior officer to deliver on mandate as he charged them to bring their professional expertise for impactful leadership.

The redeployment is with effect from January 15, 2024 which marks the end of the ongoing Operation Zero Tolerance Special Patrol. According to FRSC, the redeployment is part of a strategic initiative targeted at ensuring full realisation of the corporate strategic goals of the Corps in 2024.

He has vast experience in the public education department of the Corps and has worked in the Federal Road Safety Corps for over 25 years. Agwu has served twice as spokesperson as well as Supervisor of the Higher Command structure with a staff strength of over 2000.
