MultiChoice Confirms Exit Of Emmanuel TV From DStv, GOtv Packages

MultiChoice, the parent company of DStv, Gotv, has confirmed that Emmanuel TV will no longer be available on DStv and GOtv packages starting from January 17th, 2024.

Earlier, the popular religious channel, Emmanuel TV had hinted its planned departure from MultiChoice’s DStv and GOTV and other pay-TV services.

Emmanuel TV station on DSTV channel 390 is owned by the late Nigerian controversial cleric, Prophet Temitope Babatunde Joshua, founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations since 2006. The church has always run diverse programmes on various pay-TV stations.

It is noteworthy also that, this development is coming right after the release of a three-part documentary by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on the controversial lifestyle of the late TB Joshua.

The BBC claimed that it has interviewed at least 30 former members and workers of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN).

The 3-part documentary revealed the clandestine lifestyle of the now-deceased founder of SCOAN. It detailed stories of abuses, harassment, rape, manipulation, and staged miracles that spanned over two decades. Sources told the BBC that the church must have known about all the allegations, but there was no case of any form of investigation.

In response to the BBC investigation, SCOAN described the documentary as baseless, adding that the people interviewed were unknown to the church. In an official statement signed by its Public Affairs Director, Mr Dare Adejumo, the church clarified that the purpose response is to dispel misconceptions that may arise from the report.

It is also noticeable that after the demise of TB Joshua in June 2021, Emmanuel TV has relied heavily on rebroadcasting old content produced during TB Joshua’s lifetime.

It was reported that the new management of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, led by the wife of the late founder, Pastor Evelyn Joshua, is facing numerous challenges that have affected the financial base of the church.
