Babajide Sipe Steps in As New ACAMB President

Babajiide Sipe, seasoned communications expert, has assumed the role of President of the Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (ACAMB), promising bold leadership to elevate the association’s impact in the banking sector.
In his acceptance speech, Sipe expressed deep gratitude to his peers, stating, “Thank you to my professional colleagues. I’m truly grateful for your trust and honoured to serve as your President.” He outlined his vision anchored on four pillars—mentorship and career development, strengthening ACAMB’s relevance within the banking industry, active member engagement, and strong representation and advocacy—emphasizing, “Above all, I will be an unrelenting advocate for our members and for the strategic value of our profession.”
Sipe’s key focus is growth, as he declared, “My key focus is growth: growing ACAMB’s relevance, impact, and voice, while building on the strong legacy handed to us.” He committed to unity and progress, saying, “Together, we will move this association forward with unity, courage, and intent.” Underscoring his dedication, he pledged, “I promise to serve ACAMB with courage, purpose, and strictly in the interest of our members,” while vowing upfront, “I promise to lead with courage, intention, and purpose.”
Sipe brings close to two decades of experience in banking and finance communications to the presidency. He joined GTBank in 2007 as an Executive Trainee, rising to Head of Brand Management & Experiential Marketing by 2021, where he managed high-profile CSR projects like the Principal’s Cup and Autism Conference, alongside international launches in the UK, Liberia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania. He also spearheaded product promotions such as GTCrea8, SME Markethub, Mobile Banking, Seniors Account, and Platinum Banking.
His career highlights include serving as Head of Brand Management & Marketing at Heirs Insurance (January–June 2021), Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Ecobank Nigeria (June 2021–July 2024) with a focus on Pan-African trade and payments. His current role as Group Head of Brand Transformation & Digital Marketing at Bank of Industry (BOI) since June 2024 involves driving brand strategies for Nigeria’s oldest development finance institution.
Sipe’s educational background bolsters his expertise: a BSc in Urban & Regional Planning from the University of Lagos (2000–2004), a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of London (2017–2019), an Executive MBA in Strategic Business Leadership from Lagos Business School (2018), and a Master’s in Business Management (Distinction) from the University of Portsmouth (2020–2021).
Named among the Top 10 Perception Managers in 2024 for his prowess in strategy, project management, and relationship building, Sipe is an Associate Member of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (since 2022). He holds LinkedIn certifications in critical thinking, content marketing, SMART goals, and high-performance habits, with core skills in media relations, CSR management, and product innovation across multinational expansions.
Babajide Sipe, who before his appointment was the general secretary of the association, is taking over from Rasheed Bolarinwa. He is poised to build a strong legacy that will propel ACAMB forward.
