Twitter has announced that TweetDeck, a popular program that allows users to monitor several accounts at once, will be available only to “verified” users from next month.

According to the firm in a support message on Monday, it said that it was launching a new version of TweetDeck with various new functions.

“In 30 days, users must be Verified to access TweetDeck,” the message said.

A series of changes to the way Twitter is run left many TweetDeck users unable to see posts on the weekend.

TweetDeck which was launched more than a decade ago, shows messages in columns and its search and posting functions operate differently from the website or the app.

Twitter bought London-based TweetDeck in 2011, with technology media putting the price tag at $40 million at the time.

Also, recently Twitter announced a new policy to limit contents that unverified users can see or read on the platform.

Elon Musk made the new policy known in a post on the social media platform on saying that unverified users would have a temporary limit placed on the number of tweets they could view in a day.

He added that “Rate limits increasing soon to 8,000 for verified, 800 for unverified, and 400 for new unverified.”

However, just after the announcement, thousands of Twitter users reported problems with the service, saying they were unable to retrieve tweets, their timelines had gone missing or followers had disappeared.

According to Down Detector, nearly 6,000 people complained of issues, and many tweeted about their problems. Some users reported getting the message “rate limit exceeded” when they tried to view tweets.
