South African digital satellite television provider, MultiChoice has signed a licensing agreement with Paramount Global Content Distribution to bring Paramount+ to Africa for the first time.
This development is a bid to expand its offering and cater to African audiences.
This agreement will allow MultiChoice subscribers gain access to a dedicated Paramount+ destination featuring a library of content, including new and returning television series and feature films from CBS, Paramount+ Originals, Showtime, and Paramount Pictures.
Speaking on the agreement, Nomsa Philiso, CEO of General Entertainment at MultiChoice South Africa said “This agreement demonstrates our commitment to providing viewers with more entertainment options and expanding our services with new content.”
According to him, the development also means the distribution company will compete with streaming services, including Netflix and Amazon Video.
