Oluwasola Obagbemi Assumes New Role As Corporate Comms Manager For SSA At Meta

Highflying communications professional, Oluwasola Obagbemi, has moved up the ladder to assume a new position as Corporate Communications Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, for multinational technology conglomerate, Meta.

In her new role, Oluwasola who hitherto occupied a similar position for Anglophone West Africa at Meta  where she was leading communication  in Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Gambia and Sierra Leone will now lead all external communication efforts across  Sub-Saharan Africa at Meta (Instagram, WhatsApp & Facebook) including pro-active and re-active campaigns.

Prior joining Meta, she was Senior Communications Manager for Africa at Andela Inc. where she built and led the Comms team in Africa across emerging markets. 

Oluwasola has also worked at Red Media Africa Group for over six years where she rose through the ranks to become a Deputy Chief Operating Officer, leading the agency to win several international and local pitches as well as pan-African awards. She was also a team lead for the Futures Award project for its seventh edition.

With over 14 years’  cognate experience as a PR and communications professional, she has, over the years proven to be a passionate advocate for women rising to the peak of their career while having work-life-balance. She has also championed causes geared towards promoting equality and inclusion for women including hosting a closed door conversation called ‘The Bloom Conversation With Sola.’

A go-getter, Olusola made the pioneer “35 under 35” Marketing and Communications Professionals in Nigeria in 2022, the definitive and exclusive list of foremost young, disruptive and top performing professionals in the Nigerian market, under the age of 35 years.

She is also a part of 14 individuals comprising foremost experts and professionals from around the world chosen to adjudicate works from across markets in Africa in the 2024 SABRE Awards, as jury member.

She is a faculty member at “The Rome Business School” where she lectures Executive Masters students in Corporate Communication and an instructor at Talstack, an all-in-one platform that enables businesses to upskill their employees with tools, content and insight from Africa’s best professionals and entrepreneurs. Oluwasola is also a certified member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and a certified Management Consultant Fellow of International Management Consultants (FIMC, CMC).

She holds a master’s degree in communications studies from the University of Ghana, Accra Legon (Public Relations & Advertising major) and a B.A degree of Dramatic Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University.
