AAAN’s 2024 AGM Begins Today With Visit To Alake, Osile

The highly anticipated 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM)/Congress of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) is set to kick off today at the Rock city of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, with leaders and delegates paying courtesy visits to the Alake of Egbaland, HRH Oba Adedotun Gbadebo Aremu 111 and the Osile of Oke-Ona, HRH Oba Adedapo Tejuosho. 

The three-day event which runs from today to the 20th of July is expected brings together marketing communication professionals, industry leaders, and policymakers from across Nigeria’s advertising ecosystem.

The first half of events for day two of the AGM which is primarilyy a conference, will move to the June 12 Cultural Centre where the Ogun State Governor Adedapo Abiodun will officially declare open the conference. The Minister of Information & National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, is billed to also deliver a speech at the occasion.

Themed “Breaking the Mould- Creativity and National Development”, the conference is expected to serve as a robust platform to discuss the growth and impact of the advertising sector on the nation and opportunities that can be harnessed to strategically position the industry. Billed to speak is a stellar line-up of speakers from across industries and sectors. Some of them include Obi Asika, Director-General of the National Council for Arts & Culture; Femi Odugbemi, CEO of Zuri35 Media; Chichi Nwoko, CEO of WHAT Media Group, Olatunbosun Alake, Lagos State Commissioner for Innovation, Science & Technology and Olumide Balogun, Director of Google West Africa.

“The 51st AGM/Congress offers a veritable platform for a real assessment of the advertising sector, how it currently impacts the socio-economic well-being of the country as well as how it can achieve a bigger impact, as evidenced by its theme,” Steve Babaeko, president of AAAN had revealed ahead of the AGM.

Also speaking on the significance of the AGM/Congress, Mr. Doyin Adewumi, Chairman of the Events Planning Committee, said the distinguished line-up of multi-industry experts billed to discuss the theme of the AGM will provide fresh vistas for AAAN members. “The Association values expertise in other fields, the reason it has made it a tradition to seek out accomplished professionals in other areas to provide insights from which Advertising professionals can gain tremendous knowledge and become better rounded,” he said.

The day’s event will conclude with a fireside chat featuring Sir Steve Omojafor, a well-respected industry veteran. This will be followed by a Manifesto Night where candidates for AAAN leadership positions will present their visions for the association’s future.

Saturday’s schedule which is the third and official final day  is dedicated to the association’s internal matters. It will have two segments: Business Session and Gala/Award Night. The day begins with a chat session with Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, who will discuss regulatory challenges and opportunities. It will also include presentattions by the outgoing leadership and various committees, induction of new member agencies, dissolution of the executive committee and elections. The latter will see deserving advertising professionals recognized and rewarded at a gala and awards evening event.
