First Bank and Wema Bank are joining forces with the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC) to upgrade senior secondary schools across Nigeria. The partnership will provide better classrooms, digital learning tools, science labs, and teacher training.

Dr. Iyela Ajayi, Executive Secretary of NSSEC, announced the partnership during meetings with both banks in Abuja on Tuesday. He called it a major step to improve education for students and strengthen the country’s future.

“Senior secondary schools have been overlooked for too long. This partnership will give students the right tools and environment to succeed and prepare them for higher education and future careers,” Ajayi said.

The collaboration will focus on supplying digital devices for students, equipping science labs and ICT classrooms, renovating and building classrooms, and training teachers to improve teaching quality.

Mr. Sunday Olaitan, Regional Executive at Wema Bank, said the bank is committed to helping students learn better. “Supporting senior secondary education is investing in Nigeria’s future,” he said.

Mr. Idris Ibrahim, Group Executive of Retail Banking North at First Bank, added, “Education is key to national growth. We are proud to work with NSSEC to give students a better start and prepare tomorrow’s leaders.”

Both banks said the partnership aligns with their ongoing efforts in education and youth development. NSSEC says this collaboration will start immediately and aims to make a real difference in schools across the country.
