Passengers at Nigeria’s busiest airports can now access free high-speed Wi-Fi connection, following a partnership between the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and MTN Nigeria. The service was officially launched on Thursday, 19 February, 2026 at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Terminal 2, Lagos.

At the unveiling, FAAN’s Director of Airport Operations, Capt. Abdullahi Mahmood, representing Managing Director Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, described the move as a “groundbreaking achievement in a resolve to elevate the standards of service delivery across our airports.”

“This collaboration with MTN not only provides our passengers with complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi access but also aligns with our commitment to leveraging technology to improve the overall passenger experience,” Mahmood stated.

Lynda Saint-Nwafor, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Enterprise Business Officer, said: “At MTN, we are committed to supporting the Federal Government’s digital inclusion agenda. We believe that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern, connected life, and this includes providing free, fast, and reliable Wi-Fi to all passengers in Nigeria’s busiest airports.”

The free Wi-Fi service is currently available at Murtala Muhammed International Airport(MMIA), Terminal 2, Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, with plans to extend it to the MMIA temporary terminal and other international airports in the coming months. FAAN said in a statement: “This partnership demonstrates how effective public-private collaboration can modernise infrastructure and enhance passenger experience.”

The rollout is expected to help FAAN align its services with international standards and ease travel for passengers who rely on internet connectivity for flight updates, ride-hailing apps, and business tasks. “Reliable internet has become a baseline expectation for global travellers,” FAAN noted.

While the initiative is part of MTN Nigeria’s broader mission to deepen digital inclusion and support of national development, the initiative also supports the federal government’s digital economy agenda and the goals of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development. By bridging digital infrastructure gaps through public-private partnership, FAAN and MTN aim to drive value both within and beyond Nigeria’s airports.
