SABRE Awards Africa Names Opayemi, Zackariyau, Aleobua, Other In Jury

Organisers of the 2022 Superior Achievement in Branding, Reputation & Engagement (SABRE) Awards Africa have announced four Nigerians as members of the jury for its forthcoming ceremony scheduled to take place on the 25th of May in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Among the four Nigerians announced is the President of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN) and Managing Director/Chief Strategist of Chain Reactions Nigeria, Jaiye Opayemi.

Opayemi is expected to bring to his jury duties his experience in Strategic Communications which spans 26 years with hands-on experience in campaign planning and execution. A consummate Strategist and Master Storyteller, he has served as an External Public Relations Consultant to the 13th Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) and plays the same role to the current Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

Bidemi Zakariyau-Akande, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of LSF|PR, also made the cut to be among this year’s jury. Bidemi who ditched the courtroom for the exigencies of reputation management will leverage her experience as a respected professional in the PR space to her duties. In the Nigerian market where she bestrides, Bidemi has led her team to create innovative and disruptive campaigns for LSF PR’s clients- which comprise some of the best local and global businesses including Godrej, Philips, Unilever, Meristem, Branch, Reckitt-Benckiser, Remy-Cointreau and many more.

Also on the list is Modion Communications helmsman, Odion Aleobua. A Public Affairs, Public Relations and Communications expert with over 15 years of experience, Aleobua’s foray into the client-side of business that has seen him manage Oando Group’s PR, Media Strategies and Investor Relations across three continents, as well as Nigeria, Johannesburg and Toronto Stock Exchanges, will be invaluable to his contribution to the jury.

Recall, Aleobua also led the rebranding and Marketing Communications at Forte Oil PLC as Head, Brand & Corporate Communications before he left to set up Modion Communications in 2015. He has led the agency to win the highly coveted PR SABRE awards 2 years in a row. The most recent being a Platinum Award, making the agency the first in Nigeria to win such.

 Aishat Bello-Garuba of Leadway Assurance Limited was also named on the jury. She is a top-performing brand and marketing communications professional with over 10 years of extensive experience credited with combining strategy and account management, public relations, corporate communications, marketing and business development expertise to deliver substantial revenue growth in highly competitive business sector with strong expertise in brand development idea conceptualization and brand promotions execution.
