Strategy Trybe has concluded its six-week Marketing and Communications Strategy Bootcamp for Beginners yesterday in Lagos.

The Strategy Bootcamp started on September 2nd and was facilitated by some seasoned strategists and creatives in the Nigeria Marketing Communications Industry.

The trainees underwent intensive strategy training which ended with real-world marketing problems to test their strategic prowess, the organisers said.

The students were judged by Femisire Ajayi, Associate head of Strategy Autori Ltd, Kolawole Yusuf Founder of Kola Kuddus, Omokehinde Thomas, Digital Marketing Lead, Seven-Up Bottling Company, and Adedeji Adeleke, Strategy & Planning at Akoa London during their brief presentations.

At the end of the presentations, Simi Giwa from Kola Kuddus emerged as the best student.

Speaking during the brief presentation, Sheriff Akinpelu, Founder of Strategy Trybe said, the community was founded after some observations. In his words, “This was because I observed that there was a missing link between the older and younger generation of Strategists/Account Planners in Nigeria & Africa which has led to a rapid shortage of Seasoned Strategists and Account Planners in the industry.

“We are currently losing the older generation of Strategists to Consultancy firms and some of them are setting up their consultancy service firms. More so, lots of them are close to their retirement age, if they are not retired already. Thus, Strategy Trybe was created to be the bridge between these two generations,” he added

Akinpelu further explained that the platform also intends to provide mentorship, and learning opportunities for members. He said, “I have noticed that a lot of Strategists and Account Planners are springing up without adequate support. The community will also serve as a mentoring hub for members”.

Speaking on the impact made by the community, he said, “Strategy Trybe has trained over 500 marketing communication professionals and strategists over time”.

“Every month we also organise our free knowledge sharing sessions where we invite top industry professionals to teach our members important topics necessary for their growth. Right now, we have members in major marketing agencies and we also connect agencies with talents. So a lot of our members have gotten jobs through our platforms,” he revealed.

According to Organisers, the Bootcamp was opened to strategy newbies, graduates training or those with no experience, junior strategists, those who would like to build a solid foundation in strategy, Brand Managers and Business owners.

Akinpelu expressed his appreciation to Chain Reactions Africa, Old Lagos, Chocity Music, Bean Creative, and Xpose Brands for joining forces to bring the 2023 Bootcamp to a reality.
