UNILAG Mass Comm Body Holds 3rd ADWAVE Competition As Team Adfusion Emerges Winner

Team Adfusion comprising Abayomi Oyinkansola Tiffany, Adeyi Oluwadamisire Ebunoluwa and Atakpa Iniobong Oreoluwa have emerged winners of the third edition of the annual ADWAVE competition convened by the Mass Communication Students Association (MCSA), University of Lagos.

The winning trio were adjudged to have submitted the best entry among 16 other entrants by a two-man panel of judges comprising Mr Adebayo Orisirisi, the Creative Lead at Publicis Africa, Nigeria, and Ms Tola Arowa, Senior Manager, Human Resources at Insight Redefini, at the grand finale of the competition which was held at the Biodun Shobanjo Multimedia Centre of Excellence, UNILAG on Tuesday. Their feat earned them the grand prize of N200,000.

Team Matrix comprising Afolayan Ithiel Olushola, Adedeji Salman Abdusalam and Nnam Chinaza Daniel finished as runners-up thereby winning a monetary prize of N150,000, while Team Mavericks comprising Nkama Esther Chinyere, Ayodeji Adora Anjolaoluwa and Olatunji Oluwademilade Esther finished as second runners-up to claim N100,000 prize.

Speaking on the event, President Soremekun Samson commended competing teams for putting up impressive entries and demonstrating their readiness for industry experience, noting that the competition not only spotlighted exceptional talents within the association but also fostered a spirit of healthy competition and collaboration.

“We are happy with the outcomes of ADWAVE. This competition has provided our students with a platform to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and readiness for successful careers in the marketing communication industry. The level of creativity and strategic insight displayed was truly impressive.

“I am equally delighted because the successful completion of this year’s ADWAVE demonstrates our commitment to advancing the founding vision of our predecesors who intended for this competition to be an incubation hub for future stars in the industry,” added Soremekun.

The ADWAVE competition is a marketing communication challenge convened annually by MCSA UNILAG to upskill and build capacity among members of the association ahead of their foray into the industry. This edition of the competition, which was sponsored by Insight Publicis, a leading marketing communications company in Nigeria, tasked entrants on developing a 360 marketing plan for a fictional fintech company.
