President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Dr Ike Neliaku, President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), on his re-election to the Board of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management for another two-year term.
The President described Neliaku’s re-election as a remarkable endorsement of his professional competence, visionary leadership and commitment to advancing ethical and strategic public relations practice both in Nigeria and abroad. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said the development reflects Nigeria’s growing influence in the global communication and public relations industry and demonstrates the increasing recognition of Nigerian professionals on the international stage.
Dr Neliaku secured the renewed mandate during the Global Alliance Board’s Annual General Meeting held in Prague, Czech Republic, following a keenly contested election involving representatives from member nations worldwide. The two-year term requires him to continue representing African and Nigerian interests in global public relations governance.
President Tinubu acknowledged Neliaku’s continued dedication to promoting excellence, transparency and innovation in public relations and communication management. The President expressed confidence that Neliaku’s renewed tenure on the Board would further strengthen international collaboration and professional development within the industry.
The re-election comes barely three months after NIPR made history by emerging as the Year 2025 Global Public Relations Association at the prestigious World Public Relations and Communication Award in Lisbon, Portugal. Tinubu had then commended Neliaku and Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris for their exemplary leadership that culminated in the institute’s historic global honour.
Dr Neliaku, a Fellow of NIPR (FNIPR), is a resourceful professional and marketplace entrepreneur with over 35 years of experience in development communication and public relations practice across public and private sectors. He was elected as the 15th President and Chairman of the Council of NIPR on August 25, 2023.
Tinubu wished Dr Neliaku continued success in his renewed mandate within the global public relations community, noting that his leadership continues to bring pride to Nigeria on the international stage.
