Technology is key in shaping PR future-Expert

Technology is one of the key drivers that will shape the future of public relations in Nigeria and the world at large. This observation was made by the Group Managing Director, CMC Connect Limited, Mr. Yomi Badejo-Okusanya who was the guest speaker at the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), monthly clinic at Westown Hotels in Lagos.
While delivering a lecture titled: “10 Big Things That Will Shape The Future Of Public Relations In Nigeria”, Badejo-Okusanya noted that organizations that fail to key into the revolution in technology will be left behind.
Addressing colleagues and professionals alike, he noted: “Our Audiences are rapidly adopting new technologies and PR professionals must be ready. If we are not in the technology that is going on, then we are in trouble.”
Listed among the five technologies that will change the world are powered exoskeleton, augmented reality, driverless cars, artificial intelligence and the internet of things.
The question as posed by the expert was, “as public relations practitioners, how prepared are we for this age?”
Other keys that will shape the future of Public Relations in Nigeria include Consumerism, Activism, media consumption habits, creativity and innovation, governance of state, influencers and cultural orientation, talent, specialization, value determination among others.
