Unilever Elevates Nsima Ogedi-Alakwe To Country Project Lead For West Africa

FMCG giant, Unilever has elevated foremost IMC industry professional, Nsima Ogedi Alakwe to the position of Country Lead, West Africa.

Before her elevation, Nsima was the Marketing Director for Unilever Nigeria, a position she held for around five years. As Marketing Director, she led Marketing Strategy and Innovation programs across Tea Africa and drive growth in existing countries and white spaces, represent Africa on the BEVEX, Global Beverages Category Leadership Team, led by EVP Global Beverages and engaged with the Global Brand leaders to build on the category strategy and innovation agenda for Africa.

Nsima also led Country and Cluster Teams in Africa to land the relevant innovation agenda and drive a holistic value creation agenda for Tea Africa, inspired and built a winning team and talent pipeline for the future, among other numerous functions.

In the course of her over two decades’ career, Nsima has developed a reputation for being a consumer and customer focused business leader with strong cross functional experience and knowledge in Marketing, Business Strategy, Execution, Planning, Coaching and Mentoring. Passionate about building winning teams, making a positive impact, diversity and digital.

She cut her teeth in Cadbury Nigeria Plc., where she began her career as a Brand Manager in 2000. She was there for five years before she left in 2005 to pitch tent with Unilever Nigeria as a Marketing Manager, where she excelled at Strategic planning and implementation of brand plans, managing a portfolio of brands and Brand Managers to deliver financial returns, build brand equity and grow market share in the competitive FMCG market. She was also in charge of managing creative and activation agencies to ensure brand plans are brought to life in a memorable way that delivers set objectives.

From there, Nsima rose steadily through the ranks till her most recent elevation.

Nsoma is an alumna of the Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University where she studied Management. She is also a Lioness as alumnae of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) are called. At UNN she studied Food Science and Technology, graduating from the department in 1995.
