As part of the effort to promote environmental sustainability, Allianz Media has commissioned the Alausa Scenic Garden to promote beautiful and greener Lagos while at the same time creating an avenue for advertisers to place their advert in an eco-friendly environment.

The project which also serves as a CSR and giving back initiative of Allianz Media has the support of Lagos State Signage and Advertising Agency (LASAA) and Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK). The  events had the General Manager of LASPARK and the Managing Director of LASAA including their members of staff in attendance at the commissioning of the garden in Alausa, Ikeja held recently.

Dr. T.O.E Ekechi, Chairman, Allianz Media explained that “Protecting the environment is among the biggest governmental imperatives globally. In addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprints, one of the most important ways to protect the environment is through the planting of trees.

“Lagos State, Nigeria’s economic capital and centre of excellence is unsurprisingly at the forefront of efforts to protect our environment. Yet, the challenges that governments everywhere face are well known to us all. With government resources stretched, the case for public-private partnership (PPP) is strengthened.

“The need to play our part as responsible corporate citizens is thus what inspired our adoption of the ecologically diminished area adjoining the Lagos Television perimeter. Before our humble effort to regenerate and beautify this corridor, it had become overgrown with weeds and unsafe for residents and members of the public alike.

In addition, he said “Interestingly, one way to make this type of collaboration sustainable for all parties is the opportunity to explore the use of these spaces for advertising. Government and the public get ample green areas, advertisers reach their target group in an eco-friendly way. Everybody wins! That is why we are pleased to have not just the Managing Director of LASAA in attendance but our key advertising agency partners as well. Possibilities abound and we are more than happy to create and co-create with you environmentally friendly out-of-home advertising products.”

The MD of LASAA, Prince Adedamola Docemo applauded the company for the initiative and urged them to replicate the gesture in other areas, assuring them of the agency’s support and collaboration.

“On behalf of LASAA, I want to extend our heartfelt congratulations on this wonderful and laudable project. We are happy about this project that has indeed transferred the corridor and will transform the state and the city alike. We also encourage you that such a project should be replicated in other parts of Lagos.”

He added that “We are ready to work with all parties in exploring the advertising opportunities available within the corridor and hope that this will be a catalyst for more opportunities in days ahead.”

Similarly, LASPARK GM, Adetoun Popoola commended the contributions of Allianz Media to ensuring a greener Lagos and making the state beautiful, adding that it is a testimony to a strong partnership among the private and public sectors.

“It is also a testimony to the power of collaboration between the Allianz Media, LASPARK, and LASAA. Allianz Media are not in the business of beautification but they are taking responsibility to contribute to Lagos State, the society, and the community.

“Am very proud of what we have done and hope that this space will be used to good use and the people within the community will enjoy the space has it has been setup. They have committed a lot of financing to this and this tells us there is so much we can do together.”

The General Manager, Allianz Media, Adeyemi Adeshina on his part explained that advertisers will benefit from the project, “We can help advertisers reach their target in an ecofriendly way. Today everybody is talking about reducing their carbon footprint, talking about protecting their environment. If we put nature-based advertising it would have less carbon footprint and it would protect the environment. It is a win-win for everybody.”

He added that the company would continue to look for an avenue to contribute to the overall development of the state, pledging to replicate the gesture in other areas across the state.

Nnodim Ambrose, General Manager of Marketing and Media Ltd, sister company of Allianz Media, said the garden and other similar projects Allianz Media plans to embark on will help reduce activities of hoodlums, make the state beautiful, environment friendly for us and as well often a great opportunity for advertisers to reach their target market.
