Babaeko, Adelusi, Okeke, Adisa, 59 Others Inducted As Fellows Of APCON

The Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) has inducted 63 long serving practitioners as Fellows of the advertising profession. This year’s induction is coming 10 years after the last ceremony was held0. The huge gap was caused by the absence of a governing council over the years.

The newly inducted fellows include the industry veterans who are long serving practitioners and have contributed to the growth of the industry.

Some of the veteran advertising practitioners inducted at the ceremony that took place at Radisson Blu Hotel in Lagos on 19th January, 2022 are: Steve Babaeko, Femi Adelusi, Lanre Adisa, Emeka Okeke, Chidozie Mbanefo, Dr. Ken Onmyeali Ikpe, Olukayode Oluwasona, Yinka Adebayo, Babajide Fagade, Eki Adzufeh, Emmanuel Ajufo, Omowunmi Owodunni.

Others are: Kupoluyi Ayodele Ayodeji, Jenkins Alumona, Babatunde Adedoyin, Hannah Oyebanjo, Idorernyen Enanag, Temitope Jemerigbe, Kayode Olagesin, Benson Abnayomi, Celey Okogun, Julia Oku Jacks among others.

Noteworthy, the induction ceremony also had all the crème de la crème of advertising in Nigeria including the doyens of advertising, Biodun Shobanjo, Sir Steve Omojafor among other prominent individuals and captains of industries.

In his congratulatory address, Registrar/Chief Executive of APCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, said “It is also my pleasure to heartily congratulate the advertising practitioners that would today be inducted into the fellowship cadre of the advertising profession having satisfactorily met the required criteria stipulated by law and consequently attaining the highest and distinguished class in the profession. This is a delightful moment for APCON and the advertising industry particularly being that the last fellows’ induction held over 10 years ago.

“In the course of my two-and-a-half decades in this industry, I have known each of the inductee personally and I have worked with virtually every one of them in different capacities and therefore I can attest that none of the fellows inducted today lacked the professional aptitude to be designated as such. I am proud to affirm that all of them are eminently qualified to be in the category which they are today made to be. 4. I am optimistic that with the status that comes with your elevation in the advertising industry, you will diligently represent the profession in all progressive ramifications and resourcefully apply your position to promote the best interest of the profession.”

Fadolapo, disclosed that the council is committed to providing conducive business and professional grounds to make sure that the practice and business of advertising in Nigeria is conducted in an ethical manner without compromising best practices.

Advising the newly inducted on professionalism, Omojafo said “As fellows of the profession, I implore you to remain steadfast and faithful to your obligations and to the Oath of Advertising Practice which you have repeatedly affirmed at every progress you have made in the course of your professional upgrade.

“Kindly continue to render every necessary support to APCON especially in training and professional development of the younger practitioners who aspire to improve their career and advance themselves in this valued field. Let me mention that you are also obligated to give yourselves and the industry the best improvement and capacity building worthy of fellows of the profession.”
