Nigeria Idol 2022: Last Three Contestants Poised for Final Show-Down
The seventh season of the Nigeria Idol edition is set for its final show with its top three contestants Zadok, Banty, and Progress battling for the number one position.
Following the performance of last Sunday night, voting is currently in progress to get the ultimate winner of the competition. Last Sunday’s activities started with Zadok and Jordan’s electrifying performances of Fireboy DML’s Peru remix with Ed Sheeran respectively. This was followed by Banty and Progress’s duet of Wizkid and Tems’ chart-topping single, Essence.
Unfortunately, the performance with Zodak happens to be Jordan’s last performance in the race of the Nigeria Idol Competition as he received the lowest vote and was subsequently evicted from the talent hunt programme.
The top three contestants were required to perform two songs each, one from the year they were born and another from songs made ‘special’ by contestants who didn’t go beyond the live auditions. Opening the stage for the first round of songs was Banty, who performed a cover of Beyoncé’s “Listen”, to a standing ovation from the audience and judges, and according to Simi, this was Banty’s best performance so far in the competition.
Next up was Zadok, whose rendition of Jennifer Hudson’s “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” blew everyone away. To seal the first round of performances, Progress performed a Whitney Houston classic, “I Will Always Love You “ to the admiration of the judges and his teeming fans.
The competition got fiercer with the next round of songs as the last girl standing, Banty, took the crowd back in time with her cover of Brandy’s 1995 hit, “I want to Be Down”. Next up, Zadok gave a good account of himself with a thrilling performance of Boyz II Men “ I’ll Make Love To You” which had the audience swaying in their seats. Progress rounded up the night of outstanding performances with his cover of Westlife’s Swear It Again to another round of standing ovations from everyone.
With the three contenders left in the battle for the Idol crown, the show has become tense as each contestant according to the judges, has the musical prowess to get to the grand finale that will lead to the clinching of the N100 million worth of prizes, including a recording deal from a label, a brand-new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), cash prizes, and other exciting gifts.
It was believed that the contestants brought out their A-game in the night’s performances as the competition continues this Sunday with the top three contestants striving for the top spot.
Meanwhile, getting the winner is all in the hands of the viewers as voting is still open till Sunday, 15 May 2022 and voting can be done through the Africa Magic website, mobile site, and MyDStv and MyGOtv apps.
Banty is the musician that impresses me when she sings
One funny thing that i picked from Banty is that she said that she choose the song which she presented last sunday for those that like her and those that did not like her. But i know that we so much like her and her songs.
We wish you the best.
