Data Science Nigeria (DSN) and DSN AI Innovations Limited (DSNai) have won the Global Grand Challenge funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for their work on generative artificial intelligence in Financial Inclusion and Education content generation.
While making the announcement on his LinkedIn page, Bayo Adekanmbi, the Founder/CEO of DSNai Lagos, London & Dubai wrote “Congratulations to us at Data Science Nigeria (DSN) and DSN AI Innovations Limited (DSNai)! The two organizations won the Global Grand Challenge, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for our work on Generative Artificial Intelligence in Financial Inclusion and Education content generation.”

The Global Grand Challenge focused on applying Artificial Intelligence Large Language Models in developing locally-led innovation in low and middle-income countries to improve the livelihood and well-being of communities globally.
Data Science Nigeria’s winning solution is a multilingual, voice-based chatbot that supports transaction reporting, simplifies financial accounting, provides customized financial advisory, and guides on daily financial decision-making for informal traders, traders, and smallholder farmers.
Similarly, DSNai, a new start-up focused on generative, geospatial, and conversational AI solutions, won the Global Challenge grant for its work on “AI for Education Delivery: text-to-video adaptive learning content generation for rural students.”
The platform leverages video diffusion and large language models to develop localized, curriculum-based, and nuanced learning videos, which are personalized based on learners’ context, spoken language, and learning progress.

Through Grand Challenges, the foundations and partners have awarded more than 3,600 grants to a diverse pool of problem solvers in more than 100 countries, while at the same time fostering a global innovation ecosystem in places where it will have the most impact.
