Brandcom Awards Set For Continental Expansion, Recognises Access, Unilever, GB Foods In Ghana

In its commitment to expand across the West African sub-region and eventually the entire continent, Brandcom Awards, Nigeria’s most prestigious recognition platform in Integrated Marketing Communications has broken new ground by extending its reach to include the vibrant Ghanaian market.

The annual award which is aimed at celebrating the exploits and achievements of brands, agencies, and notable players that have gone the extra mile in making a great impact in the industry was held at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos on Saturday, 4th of November 2023.

Speaking on the expansion, the convener of Brandcom Awards and Publisher of Brand Communicator, Joshua Ajayi said “At Brandcom Awards, we created a grand vision, and we have never relented in expanding the frontiers of this great Vision. This year, we have expanded the scope of our awards into the West African sub-region. This great continental journey that begins with this edition will see us consolidate massively in the coming years. We welcome all our international guests and winners to Lagos Nigeria.”

Access Bank Ghana, Unilever Ghana, Godrej Ghana, and GB Foods Ghana were some of the Ghanaian companies awarded at the event.

The Convener also “For more than half a decade, we have matched our vision with action, in elevating the Prestige, Integrity, and Credibility of the Marketing Communications Industry in line with our tagline.

“This responsibility of promoting excellence in the industry has firmly rested on our shoulders over the years, revealing the fact that we are absolutely committed to encouraging and supporting excellence and quality performance.”

The event also witnessed the induction of three outstanding achievers in diverse areas of branding and Communications into Brandcom Hall of Fame. They are Jimi Awosika, Vice Chairman, Troyka Holdings; Wale Adenuga, Founder of Wale Adenuga Productions(WAP) and Bola Akingbade, Former Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Nigeria.

These three great personalities have now joined the exclusive list of communication giants such as Biodun Shobanjo, Udeme Ufot, Seni Adetu, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, Ayo Oluwatosin, Sir Steve Omojafor, Mrs Iquo Ukoh and other who were previously inducted into the Brandcom Awards Hall of Fame.

There was a special segment recognising the contributions of young and dynamic individuals within the IMC industry tagged top 35 under 35 marketing professionals. According to the Convener, “This year, we took the nudge in the nomination process higher. Our team of assessors followed a data-driven evaluation process that was designed to be consistent and objective, scoring each player dispassionately.”

Also, some outstanding CEOs were awarded at the event, they include Steve Babaeko, CEO of X3M Ideas; Isreal Jaiye Opayemi, MD/Chief Strategist of Chains Reaction; Gbenga Victor Afolabi, Founder, Eko Innovation Centre; and others.

Other notable industry leaders present at the event were Mrs. Iquo Ukoh, Former Head of Marketing, Nestle Nigeria; Dr. Lekan Fadolapo, Director-General, Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON); Idorenyen Enang, President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN); Lampe Omoyele, Managing Director/CEO, Nitro 121; Segun McMedal, President/CEO of Upticomm Marketing Company; among others.
