Ronan Redmond: Vibrant High-Achiever Steps Aside After Seven Fruitful Years

When it comes to the world of entertainment and media business, Ronan Redmond is a tough bird. The impact he has made as Commercial Director of TVC Communications in the last seven hugely successful years is a great testament to this feat. Redmond is set to step down from his role as Commercial Director next month. Widely recognized as having massively impacted the Nigerian advertising sector, Redmond leaves behind an impressive legacy at TVC Communications.

Commenting on his decision to step down at TVC Communications, Ronan Redmond said, “I am incredibly proud of the work carried out, along with my colleagues, at TVC Communications as we turned the company into one of the leading commercial broadcasters in Nigeria. I am confident the team is equipped to take the commercial business to the next level.

“Despite the present economic challenges, I remain steadfast in my belief that the Nigeria media and entertainment sector is an area of real potential and that with proper Government support can be a viable contributor to GDP and diminish a reliance on oil.

 “I intend to continue to support the Nigerian media and entertainment stakeholders in their pursuit of growth. I want to thank everyone I have met in my role at TVC Communications for making the past seven years so successful and I look forward to us doing business again soon.”

His Achievements

A good number of giant strides and commercial achievements could be linked to the ingenuity of Ronan Redmond over the last seven years. They include;

Providing strategic commercial direction for the business with a focus on growing the national and urban audiences to attract advertisers. He helped relaunch and grow the broadcast channels: TVC News, TVC Entertainment, MAXFM Lagos, and MAXFM Abuja, with the total audience of all the platforms growing by 330% from 5.3M adults to 23M adults.

 He also transformed the commercial performance of the company by introducing new trading and pricing policies resulting in consistent year-on-year revenue growth and Initiated digital migration from the traditional TV platforms.

He promoted collaborations with global broadcasters around licensing and distribution agreements and advocated strongly for industry-wide studies, along with key sectoral stakeholders, for more robust market size data reporting and a move from diary to digital TV audience measurement surveys.

Ronan Redmond’s positive impact on TVC Communications, and the wider Nigeria media and entertainment sector is acknowledged in the tributes flowing from key Industry figures that followed the announcement of his exit from TVC. His passion for the media business is well known, and his willingness to introduce new and innovative advertising solutions on behalf of brand advertisers into the Nigerian market is recognised by leaders in all the the sector.

Beyond his successful commercial work at TVC Communications, Ronan engaged with sectoral bodies with the expressed intention of growing the size of the Nigeria advertising market and raising the profile of the sector in the eyes of the Government. He was a regular speaker at industry conferences and a contributor in the media on all things regarding the business of the local and international media & entertainment industry.

Femi Adelusi, President of the Media Independent Practitioners of Nigeria (MIPAN) also commended Redmond in glowing terms. His words, “Ronan’s arrival in Nigeria marked the beginning of a transformative journey aimed at uplifting the local media advertising market which he believes holds huge revenue potential. His advocacy for best practices and innovation has resonated within the advertising community, as he has actively championed robust market data, the implementation of new audience measurement surveys, the integration of ad tech, and the optimization of hybrid working weeks.

  Indeed, it was in recognition of his professionalism and passion for the Nigeria advertising industry that MIPAN the umbrella body for all registered media independent agencies in Nigeria, last December, awarded him the “Outstanding Media Partner of the Year.”
