Chinwendu Ohakpougwu Joins Paga As Communications Manager

A marketing communications expert and one of Brandcom Awards’ top 35 under 35 marketing communications professionals, Chinwendu Ohakpougwu has been appointed Communications Manager at Paga, a mobile payments company that offers a central platform for financial services.

In her new position, Chinwendu will be leading brand communications, tackling perception gaps, and help in telling the Paga story, among other responsibilities.

While announcing her appointment through her LinkedIn page, she wrote, “After years of telling stories that move people and managing perceptions that shape brands, I’m stepping into a new chapter that feels aligned in all the right ways.

“I’m excited (and honestly, proud) to announce that I’ve joined Paga as Communications Manager. Paga isn’t just one of Nigeria’s fintech OGs — it’s a company redefining what it means to move money, serve people, and scale with purpose.”

Before joining Paga, Chiwendu was Group Head, Marketing and Communications at TrustBanc Financial Group.

Chinwendu is a dynamic and award-winning marketing communications leader with a proven track record of building brands and driving impactful strategies in the financial services industry.

With expertise in branding, corporate communications, and digital marketing, she has successfully transformed ideas into measurable results. Whether launching financial brands and products or leading marketing communication initiatives, she thrives at the intersection of creativity and execution.

Her career journey started as a non-financial player, working as a Reporter at Sahara Reporters Media Group where she conducted investigative journalism in high-risk areas, providing in-depth coverage of critical issues such as the Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB uprising of 2017.

She then moved to work with the globally acclaimed Nigerisn novelist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie as her communications sssistant, with the responsibility of implementing and planning communications strategies, as well as monitoring client-related matters published in the media.

She also worked at Renmoney where she was the Corporate Communications Officer, where she managed the daily PR activities on Renmoney Microfinance Bank. She also served as Communications Account Manager at Hill+Knowlton Strategies with the responsibility of managing the day-to-day PR account activities for FBNQuest, Visa, WorldRemit, Standard Chartered, AgustoandCo, and WARIF.

Chinwendu also served as Head, Corporate Communications and the Group’s Corporate Communications Manager at DLM Capital.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) as well as a Diploma in Media Studies from Saylor Foundation. She is also certified in Public Relations from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
