Nigeria Reputation Day: NRMG Urges Citizens To Rebuild Trust, Integrity & Patriotism

The Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG) has called on Nigerians at home and abroad to take ownership of the nation’s image and values as the country commemorates the inaugural Nigeria Reputation Day. October 15 each year has been fixed as Nigeria Reputation Day.
In a statement signed by Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, Chairman of the NRMG, the Group emphasized that a nation’s greatness lies not in material wealth but in the moral fibre of its people.
Badejo-Okusanya said, “Our reputation is not merely perception; it is power. It determines how the world receives us, how investors trust our markets, how our youth are treated abroad, and how proudly our children identify with their homeland.”
The NRMG declared that rebuilding Nigeria’s reputation must go beyond policy reforms and system overhauls, which must begin with “Restoring trust, strengthening character, and living with integrity.”
To guide the nation’s journey toward a renewed global image, the NRMG unveiled five core pillars that every Nigerian is encouraged to embody, which include consistency, transparency, responsibility, respect, and excellence.
The Group urged all Nigerians to embrace these principles under the campaign theme #BetterNigeriaBetterReputation, committing to “one act of integrity” daily as a contribution to a stronger, more respected nation.
“Every act of fairness, every promise kept, and every truth spoken is a quiet brick with which we build a stronger, more respected Nigeria,” the statement read.
Beyond governance and systems, the NRMG spotlighted what it described as “The M-Factor,” five powerful cultural forces that continue to shape Nigeria’s image around the world: Music, Movies, Media, Minds, and Fashion.
These, the group said, represent Nigeria’s soft power, the creative and cultural assets that communicate the nation’s spirit and potential globally.
“When the M-Factor aligns with integrity, Nigeria becomes unstoppable,” Badejo-Okusanya noted. “Let our music carry messages of dignity as much as rhythm. Let our films uplift as much as they entertain. Let our media amplify truth, not toxicity. Let our minds lead with conscience. Let our fashion express pride anchored in purpose.”
While acknowledging Nigeria’s challenges, the NRMG expressed optimism that collective action rooted in honesty and accountability can transform the nation’s global standing.
“Our national image will not be defined by headlines alone, but by the quiet consistency of millions choosing what is right,” the statement said. “This day marks a turning point, a reminder that the reputation we desire begins with each of us.”
The NRMG announced that Nigeria Reputation Day will be celebrated annually on October 15, serving as a national reminder that integrity and reputation are the foundations of progress.
In closing, Badejo-Okusanya reaffirmed NRMG’s commitment to leading and supporting efforts that strengthen Nigeria’s moral and reputational capital.
“Together, we can build a nation that commands respect, attracts opportunity, and reflects the greatness that lies within us all,” he said.
In the related development, the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) has said that it is standing in solidarity with Nigerians and the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to promote a better reputation for our great nation.
The apex regulatory body said this in a statement signed by Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, its Director-General, to celebrate the inauguration of Nigeria Reputation Day.
The statement reads, “The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria [ARCON], on this important day, Nigeria Reputation Day, stands in solidarity with Nigerians and the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to promote a better reputation for our great nation.
“We acknowledge the power of reputation in shaping perceptions and opportunities. We will work together with NIPR to showcase Nigeria’s strengths, address challenges, and build a brighter future. Congratulations to NIPR and all Nigerians on this special day. Together, we can create a more positive narrative and unlock Nigeria’s vast potential.”
