AMVCA 2026 : Guinness World Records Reacts To Bread-Branded Outfit Of BBNaija’s Queen

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Queen Mercy Atang, may be inching toward a global record conversation after Guinness World Records took notice of her bread themed outfit at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
Guinness World Record commented on a video shared on her Instagram page recently, writing, “Well, we do have a record for the largest cake dress… hmmm.” The reality star reacted promptly to the comment, writing back, “Hello @guinnessworldrecords, I see you in the comment section.”
The back and forth has added fresh momentum to conversations surrounding her striking AMVCA appearance, which has continued to generate buzz across social media and fashion circles days after the event.
According to Guinness World Records, the current record for the world’s largest wearable cake dress at 131.15kg (289lb 13oz). That record was set by Natasha Coline Kim Fah Lee Fokas of SweetyCakes GmbH in Bern, Switzerland, on January 15, 2023.
Queen had turned heads on the AMVCA red carpet after arriving in a costume styled to resemble loaves of bread, accessorised with a matching prop. The appearance quickly went viral and drew reactions from across the country and beyond.
She explained that the outfit was a reflection of her journey as a businesswoman in the food industry. “AMVCA 2026 ready. I come as an entrepreneur who runs a bread EMPIRE,” she wrote, in reference to her bakery brand.
Few days after the event, Queen took things a step further, calling on MultiChoice Group and Africa Magic to consider creating a dedicated platform for Nigerian entrepreneurs within the AMVCA calendar.
In an open letter, she wrote, “Just a thought, since we already have the AMVCA Cultural Day and other special events before the main award night, would it be possible to create a special night dedicated to entrepreneurs in Nigeria to showcase their brands, creativity, and impact? Imagine AMVCA Nigerian Entrepreneurs Night. Massive, classy, and inspiring.”
The outfit has since crossed borders, drawing attention from foreign fashion influencers and media platforms. It has also sparked a wave of inspiration among entrepreneurs online, with many creating their own brand themed outfit concepts in the same vein.
Reactions within Nigeria have been mixed. While some dismissed the look as over the top, public relations and branding experts were among those who viewed it as a deliberate and effective marketing strategy that put her business in the international spotlight.
