Airtel Money Targets London Stock Exchange Listing In Proposed IPO

Airtel Money has announced plans to list its shares on the London Stock Exchange through an initial public offering, marking a major step in the growth of the African digital financial services business.
Speaking on the IPO, the CEO of Airtel Money, Ian Ferrao, said the proposed listing represents a new phase for the business, which has grown into one of Africa’s largest financial technology platforms.
He said Airtel Money had approximately 53 million monthly active users as of June 30, 2026, supported by its technology infrastructure and agent network.
According to reports, the company recorded $1.346 billion in revenue for the financial year ended March 2026, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation stood at $676 million.
Airtel Money’s total processed value reached $213 billion in the 12 months to June 2026. Its customer base also grew at an annual compound rate of 20 percent between March 2018 and June 2026.
The company, which operates across 13 African markets, said the proposed listing will support its next phase of expansion as it grows its customer base and widens its financial services offering.
Airtel Money expects to publish a prospectus containing details of the offer in early October 2026. The final offer price is expected to be announced in mid October after the book building process.
The proposed IPO will consist entirely of existing shares, meaning Airtel Money will not raise new capital through the listing. The company expects at least 10 percent of its shares to be available for public trading after admission to the London Stock Exchange.
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has also agreed to invest up to £67.2 million, about $90 million, in the offering as a cornerstone investor, subject to the final offer price and other conditions.
The company said it remains debt free, while capital expenditure represented just 3 percent of revenue in the financial year ended March 2026.
Airtel Money currently serves about 41 percent of Airtel Africa’s 128.9 million telecom subscribers, leaving more than 75 million subscribers outside its financial services platform.
The proposed London listing follows several years of preparations by Airtel Africa. The company confirmed London as its preferred listing venue in July 2026, citing access to a broad international investor base.
The IPO comes as Airtel Money continues to expand across Africa, with revenue rising from $770 million to $1.08 billion in the financial year ended March 2026, according to Airtel Africa’s full year results.
If completed, the listing will give investors a direct opportunity to participate in the growth of one of Africa’s largest mobile money businesses.
