PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc has reported higher operating profit and stronger margins for the first quarter of its 2027 financial year covering June to August 2026.

Operating profit rose to N8.54 billion from N5.85 billion in the same period last year, according to the company’s unaudited results. Organic operating profit was reported to have grown by 39 per cent.

Gross profit increased to N19.78 billion from N15.90 billion, while cost of sales stood at N45.06 billion. Gross margin improved to about 30.5 per cent from 26.9 per cent a year earlier. Revenue grew by about 10 per cent.

Profit before tax was N9.09 billion, while profiát after tax was N4.63 billion. The company said the lower profit after tax was mainly because of non-recurring gains in the previous year. Those gains stood at N15.74 billion in the comparable period, compared with N0.51 billion in the latest quarter.

The company’s secretary, Oghenekevwe Ogefere, attributed the performance to a favourable mix of volume and pricing, and to the strength of the Group’s brands across their categories. She said the results reflected a continued focus on sustainable revenue growth, operational efficiency and strengthening the underlying performance of the business.

Ogefere said the company remains focused on sustaining revenue growth, improving operating performance and delivering long-term value for stakeholders.

The results follow the company’s full-year performance for the year ended 31 May 2026, when it reported revenue of N260.46 billion, up 22 per cent from N212.63 billion. Full-year operating profit was N77.1 billion, supported by organic performance, currency gains and the sale of non-core assets.

The latest performance comes as Nigerian consumer goods manufacturers continue to deal with high production costs, currency pressures and changing buying habits. The company said its brands continue to provide resilience across its key markets and product categories.
