Bovi Brings “Guilty As Charged” Home To Lagos On October 11

A-list Nigerian comedian, actor and writer Bovi Ugboma will stage his latest stand-up show, Bovi: Guilty as Charged, on Sunday, 11 October 2026, at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.
Speaking at a press conference held yesterday at the Lavender Room, Eko Hotel, Bovi said the evening will run from the 6 p.m. doors to roughly 10 p.m.
He explained that the title follows a tradition in his shows, where one central theme runs through the material, much like the title track of an album. This time, he takes an accusatory look at a wide range of issues and behaviours, with the aim of keeping the audience laughing. With the last year of Nigerian life as source material, he said, nothing is off the table: “Everything you can think of that has happened in the last one year… everything is on the table.”
On whether politics will feature, with elections approaching, Bovi was clear that he will not restrict himself, while noting that comedians must know the difference between making jokes and insulting people.
A better seat experience
For the first time at a Bovi show, there will be no open seating. Every ticket holder will have an allocated seat, selected online at the point of booking, replacing the traditional table arrangement common at comedy shows in Nigeria. The change is the result of several years of work to improve the audience experience, so guests know exactly where they will sit before they arrive.
Bovi will be also supported by a line-up of emerging comedians, a deliberate choice he explained to journalists:
“I’m featuring many young comics, young in career or young in age, or young in one or both, as opening acts for me to prep the audience before I come in.”
He also teased a surprise guest he could not yet name. “He’s my friend, he’s good at what he does,” he said, adding that the guest is simply stopping by to greet the audience. Bovi said he keeps his headline shows focused on his own set, because people who come to see him should get the full experience they paid for.
The show will take place on Sunday 11th October 2026 at the Eko Convention Center, Victoria Island, Lagos.
With “Guilty As Charged,” Bovi is positioning the October 11th event as more than another comedic night, but an opportunity to witness emerging comic talent and improved audience experience at one of Lagos’ major hospitality and entertainment venues.
