Tyler Turnbull Appointed CEO Of WPP Creative

WPP, a global marketing services company, has announced the appointment of Tyler Turnbull as CEO of WPP Creative, effective early 2027. Tyler, who is currently the global CEO of McCann, will succeed Jon Cook, who is leaving the company after three decades.
Tyler brings a strong record of transforming agencies, nurturing trusted client partnerships, building high-performing cultures and driving creative and commercial growth. He has led McCann as global CEO since December 2025, following Omnicom’s acquisition of Interpublic Group (IPG). Before then, he spent 12 years at FCB, where he led businesses in Canada, North America and globally.
In his new role, Tyler will bring together WPP’s creative agencies, which include VML, Ogilvy, Grey, Burson, AKQA, Landor and Design Bridge & Partners. He will be responsible for deepening the links between these creative brands and WPP’s capabilities in media, data, production, commerce and technology. The work will be powered by WPP Open, the company’s artificial intelligence platform, to make WPP’s full offering simpler for clients to access.
Cook, who is also global CEO of VML, will remain in his roles until March 2027 to oversee the handover. Eric Campbell, currently CEO of VML and WPP Creative in North America, will become global CEO of VML in March 2027 while continuing to lead WPP Creative North America.
Commenting on the appointment, WPP CEO Cindy Rose said, “Tyler is a world-class leader with the ambition, global perspective and creative conviction to lead the next chapter of WPP Creative. His appointment reflects our determination to bring together the very best of WPP for our clients, put creativity at the centre of growth and set a new standard for the industry. I am delighted that he is joining WPP.”
Tyler said, “Together with our exceptional teams, my ambition for WPP Creative is to set a new standard for our industry: connected enough to bring WPP’s full strength to every client, distinctive enough to protect the unique magic and cultures of our iconic brands, and extraordinary enough to nurture the industry’s most creative talent as we drive meaningful business growth for our partners. The opportunity to lead WPP Creative at this pivotal moment is a tremendous honour.”
Tyler’s appointment comes as WPP Creative, formed earlier this year as part of Rose’s efforts to return the company to growth, enters its next phase. The company says the unit will aim to turn intelligence into ideas, ideas into influence, and influence into measurable growth for clients around the world.
