Seven-Up Bottling Company (SBC) has introduced yellow-capped bottles on some of its popular drinks, including Pepsi, Mirinda, 7UP, Teem and Supa Komando, in a teaser campaign, assuring the Nigerian consumers that the bright caps are genuine.

The company said the caps are real, temporary packaging being used in selected regions for an upcoming initiative meant to excite consumers.

A teaser campaign is a marketing method in which a company drops hints about a coming announcement to build public curiosity before revealing details.

The caps first appeared on bottles in shops, which set off speculation among consumers about what they mean.

The company also fuelled the anticipation with a post on its official Instagram page, which said “something exciting is coming to you.”

SBC has not yet said what the initiative involves, and an official announcement is still expected to be released.

Social media users responded to the teaser with enthusiasm, with one calling the drink a favourite and another telling the company to bring it on.

SBC, one of Nigeria’s prominent soft drinks manufacturers, also makes and distributes Mountain Dew, Lipton Iced Tea and Aquafina bottled water.

In 2021, the company refreshed its corporate identity as part of a stated plan to become the biggest consumer goods company in Africa.
