Lagos Golfers Club To Host 14th Annual Year End & Swing Against Cancer (SWAGc) Tournament

Lagos Golfers Club (LGC), the LGC 9ers, will host its 14th Annual Year End and Swing Against Cancer (SWAGc) Tournament on Saturday, 28 November 2026, at Lakowe Lakes Golf & Country Club. Up to 72 golfers will tee off at 8:00am in a shotgun start, followed by a poolside lunch, a cancer awareness talk, the Year End prize-giving and awards, and a celebration of the season.
For LGC, this is more than a golf tournament. It is the heart of our corporate social responsibility. Through SWAGc, run in partnership with the St. Cyril Cancer Treatment Foundation, our members and partners fund free breast and cervical cancer screening for women in underserved Lagos communities, support for indigent cancer patients, and early detection outreach for people who are too often left behind.

In April 2026, LGC support made possible an inclusive cancer awareness and screening outreach for persons with disabilities in Surulere.
Over the past three years, SWAGc has also supported the Alima Atta Oncology Centre, Run for Cure Africa and Greenforth Medic, extending our reach across cancer treatment, awareness and early detection.
Since 2023, SWAGc has raised over ₦43 million: ₦11.6 million in 2023, ₦15.5 million in 2024 and ₦16.5million in 2025. Every naira goes to the same purpose: finding cancer early, treating it, and giving families hope.
Why “SWAGc”? We write SWAG in capitals and the “c” in a small letter on purpose. SWAG is the confidence, energy and togetherness our members bring to the course and to this cause. The small “c” is our statement of belief: cancer is a small thing, and together, through awareness, early screening and treatment, we will one day eradicate it.
This year’s tournament will raise funds through member and corporate sponsorship, brand partnerships and a charity raffle on the day, with all raffle proceeds going to SWAGc.

Fatumata Soukouna Coker, Captain of Lagos Golfers Club, said: “Fourteen years on, the Year End remains our proudest day, because it is where golf meets purpose. Every swing on 28 November is a swing against cancer. We are grateful to our members, sponsors and partners who keep this tradition alive, and we invite more organisations to join us in making this our most impactful year yet.”
Hector Okposo, Trustee of Lagos Golfers Club, added: “Cancer is beatable when it is found early. That is why SWAGc puts its money into screening, early detection and support for patients who cannot afford care. The small ‘c’ in SWAGc says what we believe: cancer is a small thing next to the strength of a community that refuses to give up, and one day we will see it eradicated.
