Google Undergoes Brand Refresh, Changes Logo After 10 Years

Perhaps, in a bid to remain in tune with the changing dynamics of its now disrupted space, search engine giant, Google has amongst other things undergone a brand refresh with a change of its iconic logo after about 10 years.
The new logo features a gradient design, where the colours red, yellow, green, and blue blend smoothly into each other, creating a more vibrant and modern look.
The previous logo, introduced in September 2015, featured solid blocks of colour, which have been a part of Google’s visual identity for many years. The new design marks a subtle yet significant shift in the company’s branding, reflecting its evolving focus on artificial intelligence and innovation.³
So far, the updated logo is already visible on the Google Search app for iOS and has begun rolling out on Android devices, starting with Pixel phones. The G still appears with distinct borders between colours on the web and other Android devices.
Google’s logo has undergone several changes since its inception in 1998. The company has used various logos, including a colourful logo with an exclamation mark, which was later dropped.
The reaction to the new logo has been mixed, with some users appreciating the refined aesthetic and others poking fun at the subtlety of the change. Nevertheless, the updated logo marks an exciting new chapter in Google’s visual identity and its continued commitment to innovation and user experience.
