Following the release of the 2025 Nigeria Reputation Perception Index (NRPI) and building on the ongoing inaugural Nigeria Reputation Summit 2026, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has strengthened the Nigeria Reputation Management Advisory Board (NRMB) with the addition of two industry heavyweights, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, Director General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), and Dr. Bolajoko Bayo-Ajayi, President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN).

The induction took place on the first day of the inaugural Nigeria Reputation Summit 2026, held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

Themed, “The Power of Youth, Technology and Creativity in Rebuilding Nigeria’s Reputation,” the summit gathers communications experts to develop actionable strategies for strengthening Nigeria’s image both locally and internationally.

NRMB is a body charged with advancing coherent narratives and trust in Nigeria’s public and private institutions. It represents one of NIPR’s most ambitious initiatives since its establishment.

Recall that the board emerged from recommendations made at the Institute’s 2022 Citizens Summit for National Integration, Peace and Security, which called for a corporate body dedicated solely to managing Nigeria’s reputation.

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) was established in 1963. The body attained the status of a Chartered Institute in June 1990 through Decree No. 16 (now an Act of the National Assembly, cited as CAP n114 laws of the Federation of Nigeria LFN2004) from which it derives the power and responsibility to register members, set parameters of knowledge to acquire to qualify to practise, regulate the practice and development of the PR Profession as well monitor professional conducts through an established Code of Ethics, amongst others.

The law stipulates standard academic and professional qualifications required for admission into the Institute. As the sole regulator of Public Relations practice in Nigeria, the Institute is supervised by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
