In a strategic move aimed at fortifying the impact and growth of Nigeria’s marketing communications industry, the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) has officially inducted a new cohort of fellows into its fold. Leading the pack of inductees at the prestigious ceremony held in Abuja on Wednesday February 18, 2026 were Charles Ebuebu, Director-General of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC); Tunde Rahman, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Affairs, and Mallam Ali Muhammad Ali, Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The induction ceremony serves as a critical milestone in ARCON’s ongoing mission to professionalize the industry and ensure that only qualified individuals steer the wheels of advertising and brand communication in the country.

Speaking on the significance of the exercise, the Director-General of ARCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, reiterated the council’s uncompromising stance on professional standards. “We are committed to sanitising the advertising space and ensuring that only qualified practitioners are allowed to practice in Nigeria,” Dr. Fadolapo stated.

He further emphasized the council’s role in safeguarding the public interest, noting, “The advertising industry is a sensitive one, and we must ensure that it is not used to promote fake news, misinformation, and other harmful content.”

As the industry faces evolving challenges in the digital age, Dr. Fadolapo assured stakeholders of the council’s dedication to progress, saying, “We will continue to work with all stakeholders to ensure that the industry grows and contributes to the economic development of the country.” The event, which drew heavyweights from across the media and marketing communications spectrum, featured the symbolic administration of oaths to the new members.

In his reaction to the induction, Tunde Rahman expressed his commitment to the core values of the council. “I am honoured to be inducted into ARCON, and I promise to uphold the ethics and standards of the profession,” he remarked. Similarly, Malam Ali Muhammad Ali viewed the induction as a responsibility towards the advancement of the sector. “This induction is a call to service, and I will do my best to contribute to the growth of the industry,” the NAN Managing Director noted.

The induction is part of ARCON’s broader mandate under the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria Act 2022 to regulate advertising in all its aspects and ramifications, ensuring that the Nigerian advertising ecosystem remains a vibrant, ethical, and globally competitive space.
